Introduction

Gurugram, one of India’s most sought-after talent hubs, hosts talent across industries. The city offers companies and the Indian workforce many opportunities, from telecom to jobs in automobile sector. With numerous IT and manufacturing companies investing in the city, the job market in Gurugram continues to grow.

During a recent roundtable discussion by Taggd, talent acquisition experts across industries shed light on India’s newest and most in-demand talent hub, Gurugram.

Most companies view Gurugram as a leading talent hub due to the city’s high availability of talent. From IT hiring to hiring automobile talent, the city is booming with skilled professionals looking for opportunities. Agreeing with this, Ranjini Chakraborty, HR Director, Giesecke+Devrient, states that the city is booming in the telecom sector and the massive availability of talent makes it an emerging talent hub.

According to Ranjini, besides the vast availability of talent, the low cost of operations in the city also contributes to more and more companies investing in the city. With more companies expanding their operations to Gurugram, more talent is relocating to the city in search of better opportunities.

Although many factors enable Gurugram to become India’s newest in-demand talent hub, the city faces certain challenges.

  • Due to a large concentration of industries in the city, the demand-supply ratio of the city has considerably increased, leading to increased job options for candidates and a challenge for recruiters.
  • Manu Sharma, HR Head at Hero Electric, believes that talent from tier 2 & 3 cities considers Gurugram an expensive city, making talent mobilization an arduous task.
  • According to industry expert Ranjini, as several marquee companies operate in Gurugram, candidates prefer to work with them, posing a challenge for small and mid-sized firms.

Besides the handful of challenges mentioned above, Gurugram is continuously expanding into the most sought-after talent hub in the country. With ample talent available across varying industries, the city is becoming a favorite recruitment destination of companies.
